Retirement

When the work stops, the income shouldn’t.Saving for retirement: SIPs while you earn, a monthly income later.

Getting ready for retirement has two parts: build a corpus with SIPs while you earn, then turn it into a regular monthly income when you stop working. We help you with both, with inflation in mind.

Who this is for

In your 20s and 30s

Time is your biggest strength. Even a modest SIP started now has many years to grow.

In your 40s and 50s

Retirement is getting closer. It’s time to check whether you’re on track, and to step up your SIP where you can.

Close to retirement or retired

You have savings and want them to pay you a monthly income through an SWP, while the rest stays invested.

How it works with us

Work out your number

We look at your monthly expenses today, the years left to retirement and an assumed inflation rate, to estimate the corpus you may need. The retirement calculator gives a first idea.

Build it while you earn

We help you choose a mix of equity and debt funds through SIPs: more equity while retirement is far away, more debt as it comes closer.

Turn it into income

At retirement, we help you set up an SWP for a monthly income, keep an emergency reserve, and review it with you every year.

What we do for you

  • Estimate your retirement corpus with clear, stated assumptions
  • Help you pick funds and a SIP amount that fit your age and risk comfort
  • Shift your mix gradually from equity towards debt as retirement nears
  • Set up an SWP for a monthly income after you retire
  • Help you keep health insurance in place, so medical bills don’t eat into your savings
  • Review your retirement savings with you every year and after big life changes
An SWP is not a pension

An SWP pays you from your own savings. If you withdraw too much, or markets stay low for a long stretch, the money can run out sooner. We help you choose a withdrawal amount that leaves room for this.

How the mix of equity and debt can change with age

StageMain aimMix usually leans towards
20+ years to retirementGrowthMostly equity funds
5 to 20 years to goGrowth with some stabilityEquity, with a growing share of debt
Last 5 yearsProtect what you’ve builtMore debt, less equity
After retirementA regular income that lastsMostly debt for income, some equity for long-term growth

An illustration only. Your actual mix depends on your goals, your other savings and your comfort with risk. Equity returns are market-linked and can fall.

FAQ

Common questions

When should I start saving for retirement?
As early as you can. For example, at an assumed 12% CAGR, ₹5,000 a month for 30 years could grow to about ₹1.76 crore, while the same SIP for 20 years could reach about ₹50 lakh. These are illustrations, not promises; actual returns will differ.
How much money do I need for retirement?
It depends on your monthly expenses, how many years are left until you retire, how long retirement may last and inflation. Our retirement calculator gives a first estimate, and we go through the assumptions with you.
Why does inflation matter so much when saving for retirement?
Prices keep rising. For example, at an assumed 6% inflation, monthly expenses of ₹30,000 today would become about ₹96,000 a month in 20 years. Your savings have to cover that bigger number, not today’s.
What is an SWP?
A Systematic Withdrawal Plan pays you a fixed amount from your mutual fund every month by selling a few units each time. The rest stays invested. It is often used after retirement to create a regular income.
I run my own business and have no pension. How do I save for retirement?
Many families run shops, businesses or farms, with no employer PF or pension. A monthly SIP, topped up with lumpsum money after a good year, can build your own retirement fund. We help you set a target and keep track of it.
How often should I review my retirement savings?
At least once a year, and whenever something big changes, like your income, health or family needs. We check whether you’re on track and whether your equity and debt mix still suits your age.
